Q: What is Jazz Lab Band?
A: Lab band is our second jazz band. It is an introductory jazz experience. We play different types of fun music, including rock, swing, and Latin styles. We also learn the basics of improvising.
Q: Who can join Jazz Lab Band?
A: Any student enrolled in Concert Band, Symphonic Band or Wind Ensemble. This group is great for students playing flute, clarinet, sax, trumpet, trombone, and baritone. I can only take a limited number of piano, bass, and drum set players. Drummers MUST be taking lessons and have at least a small bit of drum set experience. Piano and guitar players should be in lessons and must be able to read music.
Q: When does Jazz Lab Band rehearse?
A: Lab band meets on Thursday afternoons, from 3:00-4:15 pm.
Q: When does Jazz Lab Band perform?
A: We will work for two performances-one in December and one at the end of the school year.
Q: I’m involved in sports or other activities. Can I still join Jazz Lab Band?
A: Yes! We are able to split rehearsal/practice time. If you have a game, you go to your game.
